OH SH!T… I’m Over Weight!
I want you to study the picture I have put with this blog.
REALLY study it, because I am going to use that to show you exactly WHY the nation’s obesity problem is increasing.
Why people are frustratingly failing to lose weight and keep it off over and over again and why the health and fitness industry are happy to feed you a whole load of BS, just to keep you stuck in a cycle of failure.
I am going to start by talking about the picture. Let’s take a look at the picture in the middle, which contains my body stats.
According to my weight, I am ATLEAST 1 stone over weight. According to my BMI I am classed as overweight. Is it time to hit the next fad diet to get by weight down? maybe I should join a slimming club so that I am shamed every week at weigh in? I know, maybe I should do a detox and take some shakes?!
HOLD ON! Let’s stop the craziness for a second and look at some of the other stats. My body fat is 14.5%. That is classed as ATHLETIC. I am only 1.7% away from having EXCELLENT body fat.
Hold the press! So on the very same body report, I am told that I am at least one stone overweight yet my body fat is athletic and just short of the best body fat rating it has?!
Let’s look a little more into this. If i was to go to the doctors, I could be declined treatment because my BMI is too high.
I would be told I am over weight at a diet club and embarrassed into chasing those pounds off the scales.
If I was to listen to this machine and go for my ideal weight I would need to make my body frail, weak and ultimately vulnerable to injury. Not to mention I would be damaging my metabolism.
I am hoping that by now that by now it is starting to become clear how dangerous using BMI or the SCALES to monitor you health and your results actually is!
Lets move on to another picture. The picture on the left. In that picture I am about 11.5 stone. which is near the TOP END of my recommended weight range. My recommend ideal weight starts at 8 stone 11lb, which is 36lb lighter than than I am in the picure on the right, thats 2 stone 8 lbs. CRAZY!
It gets crazier. My health stats show that I am 12 stone 12lb, 14.5% of that weight is body fat which is means I have a total of 26lb of fat. So for me to be the low end of my recommended weight, I would need to lose more fat that my body actually has OR lose muscle.
Do you see how rediculous this is getting?
This comparison was all made on the FIRST picture, where I am SKINNY not toned.
I look weak not strong.
I was a size 28 in waist.
I have very little muscle mass.
I would EASILY put weight on as my metabolic rate is low due to my weight.
Yet, according to my weight and BMI I am near the top end of my recommended weight.
Imaging I was 8st 11, 36lb lighter than i am in the first picture? How do you think I would look then? Based on that picture do you think I need to lose 36lb?
No wonder people have so many deep routed phsycological issues when it comes to their weight and self appreciation.
No wonder people starve themselves, either by yo-yo dieting or even worse not eating.
No wonder people resort to magic shakes that are full of genetically modified and addictive ingredients.
No wonder people are inadvertently making themselves SICK, weak & Frail… when they really want to look toned, be fitter and healthier.
Do you still think those BMI and the scales are worth bothering about?!
I really hope not.
What about all those diet clubs that tell you that the numbers on the scales are what matters?
Still believe they are giving you good advice?!
Lets look at my “OVERWEIGHT” picture on the right now. I am gonna come out and ask it straight. Do you think I look FAT?
Would you say I was OVERWEIGHT? Do you think i need to lose between 1 to 4 stone to be healthy?
Time for the truth. Lets compare me on the right and left.
The picture on the left, you know, my over weight picture..
Have a faster metabolism
a stonger immune system
a reduce risk on injury
a reduced risk of health issue
Thats just a few benefits.
Yet the media, the NHS and the diet clubs will all tell me that I am overweight. They make the assumption that I am
unhealthy based on those numbers on the scales and an outdated BMIformula that doesnt make sense.
If you are still using scales to monitor your health and results, then i need to be brutally honest. Its time you said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
How can you every truly become your happy and healthy self when you are using unrealistic and irrelevant tools to measure you success?! You cant!
Focusing on the scales and BMI will Keep you stuck in a vicious circle where you are unhappy, constantly looking to achieve a totally unrealistic goal.
